Workout 25.9.2010

Considering I admitted that ring dips are my weakness I went out and found a way to force me to confront them more directly. I found the JT Hero workout from the CrossFit exercise pages to show my dedication.

The JT Hero workout is again a 21/15/9 progression this time of handstand pushups, ring dips, and pushups. I was in for it, oh yes.

Yoga Sun Salutation Series Warmup

  • Sun Salutations x2
  • Sun Salutations with Warrior I
  • Sun Salutations with Warrior II
  • Sun Salutations with Reverse Warrior
  • Sun Salutations with Triangle & Revolved Triangle

JT Hero Workout - Time: 19 minutes, 57 seconds

  • Handstand Pushups 21/15/9
  • Ring Dips 21/15/9 (second two sets assisted)
  • Pushups 21/15/9

Finale

  • Jacknives to Failure (50)

I was happily surprised at my resolve to push through this series. The JT Hero workout hit one of my weakest areas, dips, while really pushing my mental limits in areas I have more comfort with, handstands and pushups.

I thought I was done at the end of the JT but I decided to tack on the jacknife exercise to give my body one last push. I really feel it in my hip flexors after.

Tomorrow I’m going to reattempt my Tabata Interval series and see how it is in comparison. At best I hope to even out the sets rather than push up my overall number.

Been working on the Feathered Peacock Pose and this morning held it for a comfortable six or seven breaths.
