Maybe that would encourage smart people to do better things than focus on how to get people to click on ads.

What you want to present is something very different, a lessons learned pitch: Here’s what we thought, here’s what we did, here’s what we found, so here’s what we are going to do next. Don’t show up with just, “Here’s my idea.” Or worse, “Here’s where I am today.” Tell the narrative of what you originally think and what you learned.
There is too much in this article that is right on to quote any one bit.
I think the lack of addressing whole world problems, not just first world niceties, is one of the downfalls of the startup world. There are some people out there challenging systems but they’re a fraction of the landscape.
This could be extrapolated to any awesome idea sans implementation.
Sort of wish TrunkClub was in SF and not Chicago, I’d want to hang out with these folks.
