Religious Orgs & Contraception Woes
Organization and companies with a religious orientation should have no say in what options are available for contraception in the insurance programs they offer.
It would be similar to companies and organizations being able to tell you what you can or cannot spend your salary on.
Imagine this:
Notre-Dame pays you a salary as an employee.
You value the quality of food you put in your body, so you want to shop for only organic produce.
But, because Notre-Dame doesn’t believe in organic food, they tell you that you can’t spend any of your salary on organic food and can only purchase non-organics.
It seems ridiculous, but this is exactly the kind of exception they are asking for by believing they can restrict what their employees health insurance can cover.
Disclaimer: This is a general analogy. There may be minor differences in the situation but the comparison is the same.
