the focal point within a context-aware system is not necessarily context, it is the mediation and active creation of context
A Study In Movement
So much meat to this talk. Feel like I need to watch it at intervals to resurface the thoughts.
Wilson Miner - When We Build (by Build)
Love the visual language and interaction design of this Nooka app.
I think I might entirely replace my clock functions with it.

ex·ap·ta·tion (noun)
The utilization of a structure or feature for a function other than that for which it was developed through natural selection.
I believe, we, as designers need to be constantly aware and curious of the use of objects (digital, physical, spatial) for functions beyond their initial intentions.
We constantly see physical object examples of this (newspapers as shims for tables, coat hangers as slim jims, etc.) yet what are the digital examples? Or spatial examples?
Perhaps the Occupy movement is showing one method of exaptation of parks & squares as spatial objects of protest.
The feel” is about action-reaction; it involves the whole body and it is about timing and rhythm. This requires the interaction designer to develop skills in kinesthetic thinking and bodily intelligence. While drawing classes are excellent for designing “the look”, interaction designers should also consider classes in dance, drama or martial art to develop their sensitivity for things interactive.
A decade as a dancer plus another 13+ years of martial arts experience… kinesthetic thinking and bodily intelligence… check.
being-in-the-world is prior to both object perception and self-reflection
Might be obsessing this but yes.
Philosophy of Interaction
Heidegger and Merleau-Ponty on the conception of interaction design.
I knew my Philosophy degree was totally relevant to design.
